Dexam International

Dexam International — a leading UK kitchenware distributor — needed a refreshed material handling fleet to lift warehouse safety, maximise storage capacity and improve operational efficiency. Locators delivered a combined Aisle-Master articulated forklift and compact Toyota counterbalance alongside four hand pallet trucks, blending new and refurbished kit to fit the site.

What We Provided

THE REASON BEHIND THE SOLUTION

Working closely with the Dexam Ops team, Locators specified a combined solution designed to lift warehouse safety, optimise aisle utilisation and streamline product movement across the facility. The brief called for a flexible articulated truck to work the racking and a compact counterbalance for loading bays and general yard duties.

The Aisle-Master articulated forklift brings the manoeuvrability needed to work tight aisles efficiently — gaining storage density without compromising on safety. Alongside it, a compact Toyota counterbalance delivers Toyota’s renowned reliability for higher-volume loading and unloading work where speed matters.

Four hand pallet trucks were added to the package to keep manual movements safe and quick across the floor. Combining new and refurbished equipment kept the spec right for Dexam’s budget while still delivering exactly the right tool for each job — a tailored solution rather than an off-the-shelf compromise.

Project FAQs

Why combine an Aisle-Master with a Toyota counterbalance?

Different trucks suit different jobs. The Aisle-Master’s articulated design is built for narrow-aisle racking work, while a Toyota counterbalance excels on the loading bay and yard. Pairing them gives the warehouse the right tool for each task without compromise.

What does an articulated forklift do better than a reach truck?

Articulated trucks can work tighter aisles, swing loads through 180 degrees and move between indoor and outdoor areas without needing to swap machines. The result is better storage density and smoother flow through the facility.

Why include both new and refurbished equipment in the package?

A blended spec lets us match each truck to its workload while keeping the overall investment sensible. Refurbished Toyota equipment delivers the same Toyota reliability at a smarter price point — ideal where a brand-new machine would be over-spec.

Why add hand pallet trucks alongside the powered trucks?

Hand pallet trucks are the workhorses of short manual moves around the floor — perfect for picking, staging and quick repositioning. Adding four to the package keeps everyday movement quick, safe and efficient.

How did Locators support the project from start to finish?

From the initial site assessment through to specification, delivery, commissioning and ongoing service, Locators worked alongside the Dexam Ops team to make sure the solution matched real-world workflow. That partnership continues post-delivery with full service and parts support.
